ІV International Scientific and Practical Conference Immersive Technologies in Education (ITE-2024)

On April 30, 2024 ІV International Scientific and Practical Conference Immersive Technologies in Education (ITE-2024) was held, organized on the initiative of the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.

The purpose of the conference was to develop theoretical foundations and exchange practical experience of using immersive technologies in the educational process of educational institutions of different levels.

The conference issues covered such areas: methodology of pedagogical activities with the use of immersive technologies in educational activities; immersive technologies in STEM/STEAM education; theoretical-methodological and psychological-pedagogical aspects of using immersive technologies in educational institutions; VR & AR technologies in education; measuring the impact of immersive technologies on learning outcomes; health-preserving aspect of using immersive technologies in the educational process; assessing the quality of educational material with augmented reality; AI in education.

The event was held in a hybrid format, in English and Ukrainian.

A welcome speech was made by Oleh Spirin, Doctor of Education, Professor, Corresponding Member of the NAES of Ukraine, Director of the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of NAES of Ukraine (Ukraine).

At the plenary session, the reports of Ukrainian and foreign participants were presented:

Educating Teachers on Integrating Extended Reality. Speaker: Ján Lacko, PhD, RNDr, Dean of Faculty of Informatics Pan-European university (Slovakia) – in English.

Modern Perception of Virtual Reality Technology. Speaker: Vyacheslav Osadchy, Doctor of Education, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University (Ukraine) – in Ukrainian.

The Role of Educational Projects Utilizing Immersive Technologies and Game Development for Teaching Japanese Language to Philology Students. Speaker: Olena Gayevska, PhD in Philology, Assistant Professor, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine) – in English.

Augmented Reality in the Transformation of Education: Prospects and Challenges. Speaker: Nataliia Sokolova, PhD, Assistant Professor, Dnipro University of Technology (Ukraine) – in Ukrainian.

XR & AI: Reality of the Synthetic World. Speakers: Oleksandr Burov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Senior Researcher, Leading Researcher, the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of NAES of Ukraine (Ukraine). Nataliia Kovalenko, Doctor of Education, Professor, University of Vienna (Austria) – in English.

AI in Education: Challenges, Threats, Opportunities. Let's think this through together? Speaker: Yuriy Bohachkov, PhD, Senior Researcher, specialist of the highest category of the Department of Educational Measurements, State Institution “Scientific and Methodological Center of Higher Professional and Pre-Higher Education” (Ukraine) – in Ukrainian.

At the sectional discussion, participants' reports were presented:

Virtual reality systems for patient rehabilitation, theoretical-methodological Aspects. Speaker: Ružický Eugen, Pan-European University (Bratislava, Slovakia) – in English.

Peculiarities of analysis of psycho-emotional state for adaptation of immersive experience. Speaker: Volodymyr Silantiev, PhD student, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (Kharkiv, Ukraine) – in English.

An information environment supporting the interaction of STEM communities. Speakers: Yuriy Bohachkov, PhD, Senior Researcher, the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of NAES of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine) – in Ukrainian.

Innovative approaches to learning: international experience of using immersive technologies in schools. Speaker: Alisa Sukhikh, PhD, Senior Researcher, the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of NAES of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine) – in Ukrainian.

The event was moderated by Yuliia Nosenko, PhD, Senior Researcher, Head of the Department, the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of NAES of Ukraine (Ukraine), & Nataliia Soroko, PhD, Leading Researcher, the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of NAES of Ukraine (Ukraine).

Technical support was provided by Vitaliy Tkachenko, Senior Engineer, the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of NAES of Ukraine (Ukraine).

Conference statistics:

82 people (listeners, speakers and authors of materials) registered to participate in the conference.

45 authors sent materials for publication in the conference proceedings.

33 materials were submitted in Ukrainian, 12 in English.

Among those registered are participants from 6 countries (Ukraine, Austria, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Kazakhstan). In particular, representatives from 11 cities of Ukraine (Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Poltava, Uman, Kharkiv, Kherson).

The Conference contributed to the exchange of experience, useful and valuable practices, theoretical assets in the context of the introduction of innovative technologies of virtual and augmented reality in the field of education.

IX INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP LIFE LONG LEARNING USING ICT: PERSON-ORIENTED APPROACH (3L-PERSON-2024)

The IX International Workshop Life-Long Learning using ICT: Person-oriented Approach (3L-Person) in the series of workshop under this title continues topics set in 2016 with new sub-topics accordingly to new challenges in the field of education (such as “Synthetic learning environment: AR/VR/MR, AI in education, etc.” since 2020). The main idea of the series is ICTs’ creation-development-implementation at stages Academia → Education/Training → Industry. The quick transfer of the world to remote education and work has led to appearance of the hybrid workforce and needs of the further Human-System-Integration (HSI), where the ”System” means an education system, first of all. HSI in education is considered as a mutual adaptation of a human and ICT for K16 + re-skilling during the whole human active life.


ХІІ International Scientific and Practical Conference “MoodleMoot Ukraine 2024. Theory and Practice of Using the Moodle LMS”

We invite teachers, scientists, graduate students, students, specialists in the organization of the educational process, distance learning – everyone who uses or plans to use the Moodle LMS to participate in the conference on May 31, 2024.


The National Research Fund of Ukraine Competitions

In December 2023, the Scientific Council of NRFU approved the terms of the competitions: "Research Infrastructures for Conducting Advanced Scientific Research", "Science for Strengthening the Defense Capability of Ukraine", "Advanced Science in Ukraine".
Project selection begins. The winners will receive grant support for conducting fundamental and practical scientific research for development of the national research space and its integration into the world research space.


3rd Workshop on Digital Transformation of Education (ICTERI 2024)

The Institute for Digitalisation of Education of NAES of Ukraine invites you to participate in the third English-language workshop on DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF EDUCATION (DigiTransfEd 2024). The seminar is peer-reviewed and will be held in a hybrid format on 09/23/2024 as part of ICTERI 2024.
The theme of DigiTransfEd 2024 is related to the ICTERI 2024 Track 3: ICT Applications in Academia & Industry: ICT solutions for competence design and development / ICT development to support technology-enhanced teaching and learning, including life-long learning / ICT solutions for quality assurance in education and education management / Novel ICT infrastructures, tools, and environments for research, cooperation, and knowledge transfer.
The deadline for submission of papers is 07/29/2024.
